Class Rules for 2026

OPEN NOVICE

The Novice class is strictly for new or rookie drivers. The club reserves the right to move any driver out of the Novice class. The most common reasons for removal from the class are dominating the class or clearly being too experienced or too fast for the class.

Chassis

Any 1/10 scale car, buggy, or truck is allowed.

Motor / ESC

Any 1/10 scale motor is allowed, brushed or brushless.

Any 1/10 scale ESC is allowed.

Transmission

Any transmission is allowed in Novice class. (Note: If you move up to another class, your transmission may not be legal under those rules.)

Any spur gear may be used.

Stock slipper clutch must be in working order.

Battery

Any brand 2S LiPo battery is allowed.

Any 6-cell or 7-cell NiMH or NiCad battery is allowed.

Tires

Any tires and wheels are allowed. (Note: They may not be legal when you move up to another class.)

Body

Any body is allowed as long as it remains securely mounted.

Reverse is not allowed.

LIGHTNING STOCK / NOVICE LIGHTNING STOCK

(Shared Rules)

This class is intended to be a fun and affordable stock class. Vehicles should remain as close to out-of-the-box stock as possible unless otherwise specified.

Transmitter / Receiver

Must use the stock transmitter and receiver in the stock location.

Chassis

Redcat Lightning STK only.

Upgraded CVD axles are allowed (some newer models include them stock).

Chassis must remain completely stock.

No upgraded parts allowed. Broken parts must be replaced with original style parts.

Stock shocks and springs that came with the model must be used. Spacer clips are allowed.

Toe and camber may be adjusted.

Motor

Motor must remain completely stock.

Motor fans are allowed.

ESC

ESC must remain the stock HW-WP-1040 brushed ESC and must remain in the stock location.

ESC fan is allowed.

ESC must be in race mode (no reverse).

Gearing

58T spur gear

26T pinion gear

Battery

2S LiPo battery 50C or lower only.

6 or 7-cell NiMH or NiCad batteries allowed.

Any battery connector allowed.

Battery spiking is not allowed.

Tires

Any 1/10 rubber touring car tire allowed.

No tire soaking.

Tires must not exceed 2.75 inches tall and 1 inch wide.

Wheels

Any stock size plastic wheels allowed.

Body

No decked bodies.

Must be a stock full-fender car body. No buggy-style bodies allowed.

All body panels must be complete at the start of the event.

All holes must be taped over except for body posts and transponder mounts.

STREET STOCK / BOMBER

Chassis

Any 1/10 OEM 2WD buggy.

No aftermarket or custom chassis allowed.

No adjustable rear arms permitted.

Big bore shocks allowed.

Racing springs allowed.

Any shock oil allowed.

Toe, camber, and shock angle may be adjusted.

Sway bars allowed.

Stock battery tray must remain in the stock location.

Maximum 2 oz of weight allowed, factory marked and mounted inside chassis.

Stock shock towers only.

Transmission

Stock transmission for your buggy model only.

Spur and pinion gears may be changed.

Motor

17.5 turn motor.

Motor fan allowed.

ESC

Must run in blinky mode.

Battery

2S LiPo only.

Tires / Wheels

2.2 buggy tires only.

2.2 buggy wheels only.

No tire soaking.

Tires must be mounted in correct locations.

Body

Must have closed windows.

Must be a street stock/bomber body.

1 inch rear spoiler allowed.

No side spoilers allowed.

General Racing Rules

Points System

General Racing Rules

Two false starts are allowed. After two, the driver causing the caution goes to the back.

Races start on the tone. Jumping the start sends you to the tail.

No arguing with the timing official. Disputes must remain respectful.

Heat races are 20 laps.

Feature races are 50 laps.

Maximum 6 cars on track unless a B-Main is required. B-Main is 30 laps.

No sharp edges or metal protruding outside the body.

Reverse is not allowed. Using reverse results in immediate disqualification for that class.

Transponder operation is the driver’s responsibility.

Cheating results in loss of points for the current race and the previous two races.

Club members race for $20 per day (unlimited classes).

Non-members pay $25 first class, $10 each additional class.

Transponder rental: $5. Purchase: $30.

Unsportsmanlike conduct results in disqualification.

Rules may be modified with notice.

Racing is held 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 1PM.

Annual club dues are $50 (Jan–June). After June: $25 prorated.

A racer may not compete in more than half of the classes on race day.

Points System

(Based on Feature Race Finish)

1st — 100

2nd — 91

3rd — 83

4th — 76

5th — 70

6th — 61

7th — 57

8th — 50

Ties are broken by the higher finish in the most recent points race.
